The Vegvísir is and was a popular symbol among the vikings. It represents a kind of compass. The wearer can always find his way around, even in the stormiest weather.

The Wacken Brewery has used this signpost and slightly modified it to classify its beers according to taste. The four cardinal points of the brewery are: Ales (top-fermented), Lager (bottom-fermented), Hoppy (hop-based), Malty (malty). The beer creations so far are grouped around this division, so that even with a little bit of tipping you can still find your way around.
