Product information "Athenian Hoplite Helmet, with minor flaws"
Athenian Hoplite Helmet, with minor flaws
Flawed, discounted item!
Due to a construction fault causing the cheekplates to be mounted slightly further back (about the same height as the ears), we've reduced the price of this item.
With a little craftmanship, this production flaw can be easily repaired, for example by a blacksmith on your next historical fair or market.
Please note that discounted products that are expressly mentioned as flawed items are non-returnable.
This helmet is patterned after the Phrygian style helmet worn mainly during the Hellenistic Period of Greek history. It was worn not only by Athenians during this period, as the title would erroneously suggest, but by many different city states of the Hellenistic world. Originally intended to mimic the style of cap worn by the Phrygians of Asia Minor, this helmet was commonly worn by infantry soldiers in the Macedonian phalanx under Alexander and his successors.
This version is made of steel in a bronzed finish. The originals would have been entirely fashioned of bronze. The shape and style of this replica is a very good likeness of archaeological examples.
Details:
- Material: steel in a bronzed finish
- Including adjustable leather liner
- Suitable for a head circumference up to 61 cm
- Long distance (back to front): approx. 20.5 cm
- Short distance (ear to ear): approx. 18 cm
- Weight: approx. 1.7 kg
